Do you know Daraina, the former village of gold seekers?

For your next holiday destination, opt for Daraina, a small coastal town located in Vohémar, in the north of Madagascar. Dating, nature, beaches, you will all have what you will need to live a unique holiday.

Daraina was rather known as an ancient village of gold seekers. Indeed, the northern part of the Big Island is renowned for the richness of its subsoil. If you would like to meet traditional goldsmiths, ask your guide to take you inside the surrounding forests. You will discover their technique of gold panning and also their way of life. A visit to the market - every Tuesday - and in the surrounding villages can also be interesting.
Enjoy your trekking in the Daraina Reserve, which is an integral part of the Loky-Manambato Game Reserve. During your stroll through the forests of Binara and Bekaraoka, you will meet the Akomba malandy: the propithecus tattersalli or Propithec with golden crown also called Sifaka Tattersall. This species of endemic lemur is seriously threatened with extinction. This is why an NGO called "Fanamby" defends its protection. Expect also to see the giant scorpion. Relax at the foot of the sacred waterfall for a swim in fresh water.

As you are already in Vohémar or Iharana (ancient city name), treat yourself to a moment of relaxation in the magnificent bay. Breathe in the fresh sea air while admiring the scenery.
